PWHO Art Club

 PWHO Art Club

By: Laura Baumann

In February of 2009, PWHO residents were offered an amazing opportunity to sign up for and join the PWHO Art Club. While it was uncertain how much interest there would be, we were overjoyed to have over twenty people sign up. They were very enthusiastic and interested in what projects they were going to be completing. Art Therapist, Deb Levine was ready to lead us on an adventure of creativity and fun that would broaden our resident's horizons and enrich their lives.

Each Tuesday, for eight weeks, the clients gathered after work for two hours and created many different masterpieces including Picasso Style Self Portraits, Marble Rolling Paintings, and Mondrian Prints. Resident responses have been very positive. One stated “I made a self portrait like Picasso.” Another stated “I love Art Club so much!”

As if the projects themselves were not exciting enough, the artwork was then published on the Artsonia website for all parents and guardians to see. The feedback has been phenomenal and many parents seemed very excited to share in their children’s creativity by being able to view their work online, often from states away. To view these masterpieces please visit the Artsonia website at  http://www.artsonia.com/schools/list.asp?city=Oconomowoc&state=WI

PWHO will be starting another eight week session of the PWHO Art Club on April 28th. Brand new projects will be featured to keep the adventure of creativity going.
