The 2009 Athletics & Aquatics season came to a close after competing in the State Games in Stevens Point, WI June 4th-6th. PWHO sent 17 athletes to the State Games where 10 weeks of hard work paid off with athletes earning gold, silver and bronze medals in events including 25M Walk, 3000M Run, 50M Run, Softball Throw and Standing Long Jump.
Opening ceremonies were memorable for our athletes as A.J. Hawk spoke for the Green Bay Packers as a gigantic American Flag was lifted by Stevens Point fire trucks.
Our athletes also attended the State Games party where they were thrilled to do the Cupid Shuffle with the Chorizo Klements Racing Sausage.
The Athletes were all very excited about receiving medals but the highlight of the games was centered on sportsmanship and fun. The athletes enjoyed cheering each other on and representing PWHO.
