Laura started working for Prader-Willi Homes of Oconomowoc in May of 2008 as a Residential Counselor at Gatehouse. In November of 2010, the Assistant Manager position became available and Laura jumped at the opportunity and eagerly accepted. From an early age Laura knew that she wanted to dedicate her life to helping others. She has a strong passion for people and especially enjoys working closely with the residents and their families.
"Supporting others in need and helping people not only find their voice, but advocate for the voices who struggle to be heard is what I personally strive to do every day. Working with individuals diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome is an honor and I feel grateful to assist them in their everyday life. Watching the residents reach milestones and achieve goals that they never thought they could, means the world to me."
Laura currently attends Ottawa University with an emphasis on Human Services and Psychology. While in school, she had the opportunity to be an intern at a local school district as an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. Her knowledge has given her a better understanding of what the word empathy really means.
In addition to helping others, Laura enjoys spending time outdoors especially at her families cabin, playing the drums, reading, traveling, and more than anything, being with her family and friends.
